Nanogami is a highly innovative and rapidly growing startup in the field of DNA Origami-based nanotechnology (check out our DLD Talk or this article to learn more). Our international team is driven by a shared vision: to pioneer a novel generation of biochips set to unlock applications in research and diagnostics and thereby pushing the boundaries of personalised medicine to new heights. We recently secured significant funding by SPRIND - Germany’s Federal Agency for Disruptive Innovation to realize our ambitious growth trajectory and now aim to significantly expand our current team to support the at-scale commercialisation of our nanotechnology.

Are you passionate about researching and developing innovative technologies and want to actively shape the future of biochips? Then you've come to the right place! As a growing start-up we are looking for a motivated Plasmonics Scientist (m/f/d) to work with us at the interface of science and technology and advance our vision of highly sensitive biochips.

Your tasks:

  • Independently develop plasmonic DNA origami nanostructures for integration into advanced biochips
  • Establish methods for the functionalization of metallic nanoparticles (NPs) and integration into DNA nanostructures
  • Set up assays and workflows for characterization of custom plasmonic nanostructures (e.g. TIRFM, confocal microscopy, etc.)
  • Perform all necessary experiments/functions to produce functional plasmonic nanostructures
  • Develop plasmonic nanostructures to enable enhanced molecular functions such as single molecule detection
  • Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers to continuously optimize system performance
  • Manage R&D projects with a high degree of autonomy and initiative

Requirements:

  • Degree Ph.D. or M.Sc. with extensive industry experience in physics, chemistry, materials science, nanotechnology or a related field
  • Extensive expertise in the functionalization and synthesis of nanoparticles, particularly with metallic nanoparticles such as gold and silver
  • Strong experience in the development and characterization of nanostructures, ideally in the field of plasmonics or DNA origami technologies
  • Proven ability to analyze and interpret plasmonic signals
  • Strong knowledge in the application and analysis of techniques such as TIRFM and confocal microscopy
  • Experience in working with bioconjugation of proteins
  • Creative, independent way of working and an interest in interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Team player with a high degree of initiative and enthusiasm for new challenges
  • Fluent English skills

Benefits:

  • Chance to build our plasmonics products from the ground up in a dynamic and innovative environment
  • Opportunity to be part of a cutting-edge nanotechnology startup
  • Accelerated career trajectory
  • Competitive compensation and benefits structure, provided with security of SPRIND backing -An international, collaborative, and supportive work culture
  • Flexible working models
