We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented working student to support our impact evaluation efforts through data collection, analysis, and visualization. As part of our Research and Policy team, you will play a key role in helping us measure and communicate the outcomes of our work.

This role is ideal for students currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's program in statistics, data science, data science for public policy, or a related field, with an interest in open source software and digital infrastructure.

Your Tasks:

  • Assist in collecting and cleaning data from various sources
  • Develop data visualizations to support the Sovereign Tech Agency’s impact evaluation, program evaluation, and reporting efforts
  • Contribute to reports that translate data analyses into actionable findings for the Sovereign Tech Fund team and stakeholders
  • Assist in designing and refining key metrics to evaluate the Sovereign Tech Fund’s impact on the open source ecosystem

Your Qualities:

  • Business fluent in German and English - Our working language is English.
  • You are currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program in data science, public policy, or a related field.
  • You have a basic understanding of open source software development and the role of digital infrastructure.
  • You are proficient in Python, R, and SQL, and have experience with common libraries (e.g. pandas, tidyverse, matplotlib, ggplot2).
  • You have experience with version control (Git/GitHub).
  • You are available to work 10 to 20 hours per week.
  • Team player: you enjoy collaborating with coworkers, active and open communication, and both giving and receiving feedback.
  • Working independently: Your work is self-directed and proactive, utilizing modern collaboration tools
